Understanding the campground Match Score

Every campground RV Roost recommends carries a Match Score — a number from 0 to 100 that estimates how well the site fits your rig and your way of traveling. It's how you compare picks at a glance without reading every facility list. This page explains what feeds the score and how to change it.

What the score reflects

The Match Score blends two things:

  • Rig fit — whether the site can physically and practically accommodate your RV, based on your length, height, weight, and axle load and the campground's facility data.
  • Your preferences — your travel style, budget sensitivity, required and preferred amenities, and accessibility needs.

A higher score means a closer fit on both counts.

Reading the badge

The score appears as a colored badge on each campground card:

  • Green (80–100) — a great fit for your rig and preferences.
  • Yellow (60–79) — a good fit with some trade-offs.
  • Gray (below 60) — a limited fit; check the details before booking.

A lower score isn't a rejection — it's a heads-up to read the specifics.

How to change the ranking

Because the score is personalized, the fastest way to improve your picks is to sharpen your RV profile and preferences:

  • Mark the amenities you truly need as Required (for example, full hookups or 50-amp service). Sites missing them will score lower and drop down the list.
  • Set your travel style and budget sensitivity so the ranking leans toward the kind of places you actually enjoy.
  • Keep your dimensions accurate so rig fit is judged correctly.

After you update preferences, new trips and alternates reflect the change.

Match Score vs reviews

The Match Score is about fit — it's calculated from your rig and preferences. It's separate from what other campers thought of a place, which you'll find in the AI review summaries and ratings. Use them together: the score tells you whether it fits, the reviews tell you whether it's good.
