How to find dump stations and free overnight parking
Two things every RV traveler needs to know: where to empty the tanks, and where to park for free when you're between reservations. RV Roost has a map layer for each. This guide shows how to turn them on and what they cover.

Dump stations
Toggle on the dump station layer on the Explore map to see sanitary dump / disposal stations. Click a marker for its details. It's the fast way to plan a tank dump into a travel day instead of hunting for one on the fly.
Free overnight parking and boondocking
Toggle on the overnight parking layer to see thousands of free and low-cost places to spend a night, including:
- Dispersed camping on public land (such as BLM and National Forest areas)
- Rest areas
- Parking lots that allow overnight RV stays (lot docking)
Each spot's card shows what's known about it — the kind of stop, the managing agency for public-land sites, and details like fees or stay limits where available.
Know before you go
Rules for free overnight stays change, and public-land access and stay limits vary by site and season. Treat these as leads, not guarantees — confirm that overnight parking is currently allowed before you commit to a spot for the night.
Build them into a trip
