How to let people follow your trip and get email updates

A Trip Journal is more fun when people can follow it. RV Roost gives your trip a public follow-along page, lets viewers subscribe by email, and sends them an update each time you post a new entry. This guide covers sharing your journal and managing email followers. To create the entries themselves, see Keep a Trip Journal.

Share a follow-along link

From your trip, open Share trip and create a view-only link. Anyone with it sees a read-only page with your trip's dates, stay names, and — as you post them — your Trip Journal entries. Addresses and exact locations are never shown. (This is the same view-only link covered in Share a trip; the journal simply appears on it once you start posting.)

What a follower sees

Open the link and there's no account needed. The page shows:

  • The trip title, dates, and quick stats (days, stays, miles).
  • Each stay in order, with its dates and campground name.
  • A Trip Journal section with your posted photos and notes, newest stops in itinerary order.
  • A Follow this trip box to subscribe by email.

Let people subscribe by email

On the follow-along page, a viewer enters their email and chooses Follow along. To confirm they own the address, RV Roost emails them a link; once they click it, they're following. From then on, every time you post a journal entry, they get an email with your note and a link to see the new photos.

Every one of those emails has a one-click unsubscribe link, so followers are always in control.

Invite people yourself

You don't have to wait for people to find the link. In the Share trip dialog, use Invite by email: enter a few addresses (separated by commas) and an optional short message, then Send invites. Each person gets an email with a link to your trip and the option to follow along. They confirm their own email before any updates go out.

Reminders to keep your journal going

While a trip is underway, RV Roost may send you an occasional reminder — a nudge to add photos and a note from the stop you just left, or to start your journal once your trip begins. Every reminder has a one-click Turn off trip reminders link if you'd rather not get them.
